Jace Roulette sat quietly in his oversized office at the Haven Police Station. The top of his desk was scattered with endless paperwork. Swiveling his expensive leather chair to the right, he glanced through the large floor to ceiling windows. A hazy blue light streamed in from the outside. He rested his elbow on the desk, chin on hand and began daydreaming. The light from the window mesmerized him. He stared at it for several minutes before a sudden shiver went up his spine, causing him to shake out of his reverie. He blew some air out of his lungs, grabbed a pen, and prepared to tackle the day’s work. After all, he didn’t become the youngest agent in the department by getting distracted.
Jace wore the finest in suits and ties, as well as a three-hundred dollar shoe on each foot. His black hair was short and always combed to perfection. He had a boyish face when he smiled, which he often used to his advantage whenever he could. His facial hair was clean-cut and neatly trimmed. He had his father’s eyes, which many people around the department often complimented him on.

The dark woods, masking slopes of sombre hills;
